Douglas Grass + Roots seeks to build an inclusive and thriving volunteering culture by providing a sound framework to underpin and support the volunteer sector in the Douglas Shire.
We encourage everyone to stand up and support the Douglas community by offering your time and skills to help others. We also want to recognise and appreciate our volunteer individuals and organisations.

Port Douglas Surf Lifesaving Club ~
Port Douglas Surf Lifesaving Club ~
A small family-oriented club proudly serving the Douglas Shire and patrolling famous Four Mile Beach since 1983.
Driven by over 150 dedicated volunteer members and affiliated with the North Queensland Branch, Surf Life Saving Queensland and Surf Life Saving Australia.
Being the most Northern Surf Life Saving Club in Queensland, the patrol season runs during the cooler months of the year from May - November.
We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of surf lifesaving services as well as providing opportunities for the community to participate in surf sports, youth development and the famous Nippers program.

If you would like to assist with keeping our beach safe there are many awards you can achieve through the Club.
Other roles that members enjoy :
Helping with the BBQ / Canteen
Assisting with Club Fundraising or raffles
Assisting with Nipper activities beach set up/pack up
Gear and Equipment Maintenance
Education or Training of Members
Being an official at carnivals
Being a coach assisting with sports training
Assisting with Water Safety at the club
Being an Age Manager
Completing a Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate and assist with Water Safety at the club
Completing other Awards and Patrol
Youth Activities or Development
Being a member of the Junior Activities Committee
